If you are a Finnish citizen, DVV can process your surname matter, unless you live in Sweden, Norway or Denmark.
What does this mean in practice?
After the marriage ceremony, the Population Information System will show the surname that was on your passport before the ceremony. On the marriage certificate, DVV will write the surname you declare and a notice that the surnames in question are solely based on the spouses’ own declaration.
How do you get the surname you want?
Your surname can be decided
